In 2011 we see the National Basketball Association hold its 121st season of premier basketball (since 1890), and 62nd season of formal league play (since 1949). The season started October 26, 2010 and ran until June 12, 2011. Conventionally, this season is named NBA 2010-2011 since the exhibition and regular season started in 2010 and culminated in the NBA Finals championship series in 2011.<\/p>\n

Thirty teams competed in an 82 game season, with sixteen of the 30 teams (53%) competing in the playoffs. The Eastern Conference and Western Conference champions faced off against each other for the NBA Finals Championship.<\/p>\n
