In 2015 we see the National Hockey League hold its 132nd season of premier hockey (since 1883), and 98th season of formal league play (since 1917). The season started October 4, 2014 and ran until June 15, 2015. Conventionally, this season is named NHL 2014-2015 since the exhibition and regular season started in 2014  and culminated in the Stanley Cup championship series in 2015.

Thirty teams competed in an 82 game season, with sixteen of the 30 teams (53%) competing in the playoffs. The Eastern Conference and Western Conference champions faced off against each other for the Stanley Cup Championship.
