In 2014 we see the National Basketball Association hold its 124th season of premier basketball (since 1890), and 65th season of formal league play (since 1949). The season started October 29, 2013 and ran until June 15, 2014. Conventionally, this season is named NBA 2013-2014 since the exhibition and regular season started in 2013 and culminated in the NBA Finals championship series in 2014.

Thirty teams competed in an 82 game season, with sixteen of the 30 teams (53%) competing in the playoffs. The Eastern Conference and Western Conference champions faced off against each other for the NBA Finals Championship.
