Meta-League, 2010 (Spans 2010-16)

One of the unique aspects of Major Sports Leagues is that we calculate a cross-league standings between cities and the four major sports. This is what I like to call the Meta-League Championship Series and is calculated each year starting with 2015. This post expands the previous one by including the 2010 year so it spans the years 2010-16. Each annual season consists of Football, Hockey, Basketball, and then Baseball. This is based around when each season championship is played. The Super Bowl is the first championship played, followed by the Stanley Cup, NBA Finals, and then the World Series. In 2010 we see Major League Baseball (consisting of the National League and American League) hold the 153rd season of premier baseball (since 1857), and 106th season of formalized league play (since 1903). The season started April 4, 2010 and ran until November 1, 2010. Thirty teams competed in a 168 game season, with ten of the 30 teams (33%) competing in the playoffs. In 2010 we see the National Basketball Association hold its 120th season of premier basketball (since 1890), and 61st season of formal league play (since 1949). The season started October 27, 2009 and ran until June 17, 2010. Conventionally, this season is named NBA 2009-2010 since the exhibition and regular season started in 2009 and culminated in the NBA Finals championship series in 2010. Thirty teams competed in an 82 game season, with sixteen of the 30 teams (53%) competing in the playoffs. In 2010 we see the National Hockey League hold its 125th season of premier hockey (since 1883), and 92nd season of formal league play (since 1917). The season started October 1, 2009 and ran until June 9, 2010. Conventionally, this season is named NHL 2009-10 since the exhibition and regular season started in 2009 and culminated in the Stanley Cup championship series in 2010. Thirty teams competed in an 82 game season, with sixteen of the 30 teams (53%) competing in the playoffs. 2010 saw the National Football League hold its 120th season of premier football (since 1890), and 91st season of formalized league play (since 1922). The season started September 9, 2010 and ran until February 6, 2011. Conventionally, this season is named NFL 2010-2011 since the exhibition and regular season started in 2010 culminating in the championship in 2011. Thirty-two teams competed in a 16 game season, with twelve of the 32 teams (37.5%) competing in the playoffs.
